Celebrating International Credit Union Day
On October 20, 2022, CSE Federal Credit Union will join over 56,000 credit unions around the world to celebrate International Credit Union (ICU) Day®. The theme of ICU Day 2022 is “Empower Your Financial Future with a Credit Union.”
ICU Day highlights the many ways that credit unions across the world help members improve their financial health and well-being. International Credit Union (ICU) Day® has been celebrated on the third Thursday of October for nearly 75 years.
In celebration of this ‘holiday’, we here at CSE reflect on our part of the credit union movement and recognize the hard work our credit union staff has put in to make financial freedom an affordable and accessible option for our members, as well as share our members’ experiences. You can watch a few of CSE’s Member Stories Through the Years, here:
“The cooperative nature of credit unions is so unique in the world of financial services, and what sets credit unions apart from other banking entities,” said Bill Wittig, President and CEO of CSE. “Celebrating those differences on International Credit Union Day gives us an opportunity to remind our members of those differences and how we stand apart from traditional banks.”
Credit Unions are different than your typical ‘bank’. We are a member-owned financial cooperative, meaning we work for our members! Our volunteer board of directors (made up entirely of CSE members) ensures that decisions are made to help our members reach goals. We do that by not charging outrageous interest rates or fees, and providing products and services to better your finances and make things easier for YOU!
Credit unions were built on the principles of “people helping people”. We’ve seen that philosophy in action for more than 100 years, with credit unions providing access to affordable financial products and striving to meet the needs of underserved communities.
CSE Federal Credit Union is honored to be a part of this proud tradition.
